Since March 2013, Marianela Cortés is the director of the Technology Transfer Office [Unidad de Gestión y Transferencia del Conocimiento para la Innovación] (PROINNOVA).

Is professor with a membership of the Food Technology School with more than 14 years of experience as an investigator at the National center for Food Science and Technology [Centro Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología de Alimentos] (CITA) where she has led numerous industry and socio-productive sector projects. Her research has focused mainly in the milk sector in several topics such as innovation, bioactive molecules, product development and new technologies. She worked as a guest researcher at the European Membrane Institute (EMI) in France and as a consultant for the industry and international organisms. She has been involved in several entrepreneurial projects and is part of the Advisory Board of the Agency for Entrepreneurship Management at the University of Costa Rica.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Food Technology from the University of Costa Rica, a PhD in Biochemistry, Chemistry and Food Technology from the University of Montpellier 2 in France, and a post-doctoral degree from the same university.

Cynthia Céspedes has been part of the PROINNOVA team since 2008 and serves as an Innovation Manager for several areas, especially arts, literatures and social sciences. Céspedes has much experience regarding administrative management within the Institution, she has experience in the management of innovative projects and coordinates the training process at the Office. Additionally, she has experience providing training in intellectual property, creativity and innovation, analysis of competitive intelligence studies and advisory on intellectual property for the general public. Céspedes holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Costa Rica.

Yorleni Campos has been part of the PROINNOVA team since 2005 and an Innovation Manager since 2011 for the areas of the arts, literature and social sciences. She has advanced knowledge in Copyright and related rights as well as different types of intellectual property, as managed projects focused in education, letters, software, cosmetics and cultural industries. She also has experience in: support of vulnerable populations, training (intellectual property, creativity and innovation) creating competitive intelligence studies (commercial, scientific and technological), negotiation and transfer of knowledge with innovative potential to society. Campos holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and Literature and is an advanced student in the Master’s degree program from the Academy of Linguistics of the UCR.

Lilliana Rojas has been part of the PROINNOVA team since 2009 and has been an Innovation Manager since 2012 in the areas of Basic Sciences and Engineering fields. She leads knowledge management projects in technological surveillance, intellectual property analysis and strategy, follow-up of intellectual property protection at the national and international level, negotiation and contracts. Has specialized knowledge in the search of and the drafting of patents, innovation management and technological marketing and transfers. She also coordinates the quality management process at PROINNOVA and provides training in intellectual property, technological surveillance and innovation both in the university and at external entities. She deals with technical questions at the national level regarding intellectual property and innovation management since PROINNOVA provides these services at the Technology and innovation Support Center, CATI. Rojas holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Costa Rica.

Manuel Flores has been part of the PROINNOVA team since 2007 and has been an Innovation Manager since 2011 in the areas of Agriculture and Food Sciences and Health. He has advanced knowledge in Intellectual Property, Vegetable Species Protection and has participated in transfer projects to companies, startups and associations related to the Agricultural Industry and the Agricultural Sector. He also has experience in: training on intellectual training, creativity and innovation and creating commercial intelligence studies. Flores holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Costa Rica. He is currently finishing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration at the Distance Learning University (UNED) and is currently enrolled in a Master’s in Project Management Program at the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica.

Mauricio Villegas works in intellectual property and competitive intelligence activities since 2004 when he started working as an assistance at the Technological Transfer Unit (predecessor of PROINNOVA). In 2007, he started working as a Competitive Intelligence Analyst and since 2011, has an Innovation Manager in the Agriculture and Food Sciences and Health areas. He has also worked as a professor at the Industrial Engineering School at the UCR, he has taught the Technological Management and Design and Product Engineering courses. Finally, he is in charge of the Technology and Innovation Support Center at PROINNOVA.

Villegas holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Costa Rica.

Génesis Durán has been part of the PROINNOVA team since 2013 when she started working as an assistant at the Arts, Literatures and Social Sciences areas and the training process. In 2015, she becomes an Innovation Promotion Manager in charge of conducting market studies, cost studies, business model creation and financial analysis creation for innovative opportunities handled at PROINNOVA in order to adequately transfer them to the social-productive sector. She is also in charge of our public relations processes, the PROINNOVA website, social networks and media relations.

Durán holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Direction from the University of Costa Rica.

Silvia Salazar has been part of the PROINNOVA team since 2005, she is a lawyer with a specialty in intellectual property. She served as legal counsel for the Research Vice-Rectory at the University of Costa Rica and the Technology Transfer Office of the University which became PROINNOVA, where she is currently employed as a legal advisor. She has also been an international consultant in issues related to the regulatory framework for research and intellectual property management. She has been an advisor for research centers and universities both nationally and internationally.

She is a lawyer, graduated from the University of Costa Rica and holds a specialty in intellectual property and transfer of technology from the Franklin Pierce Law Center, New Hampshire, United States, currently the University of New Hampshire, and other training centers in the US, Mexico, Spain, Korea, etc. Her focus area is the patenting and management of intellectual property. She has had basic training in biology and agronomy and is graduate of the Doctoral degree in Agricultural Science of the Agronomy Faculty of the University of Costa Rica.

She is internationally recognized as a speaker, knowledge sharing is one of her professional strengths and has published several articles in her interest áreas.

Andrea Montero has been part of the PROINNOVA team since 2007, she has 10 years of experience in the government sector and at PROINNOVA she is in charge of the administrative area and serves as secretary for the Unit.

Montero holds a Bachelor in Public Administration at the University of Costa Rica.
