126 students will seek innovative solutions for business problems
Everything is ready to start the international competition “24 hours of innovation” in Costa Rica. From May 23rd at 7:00 a.m. until May 24th at 9:00 a.m., 126 students from the five public universities will seek innovative solutions to complex problems of different companies and national institutions.
For second time, the event will be held with the participation of all public universities in the country (UCR, UNED, TEC, UTN, UNA).
The interdisciplinary and inter-university teams, made up of 6 students each one, will work in the Auditorium of the Nacional Council of Rectors (CONARE), ubicated in the National High Technology Center (CENAT), in Pavas.
“Each university was in charge of promoting the enrollment of its students, at the end we have 57 students from the UCR, 33 from the UTN, 17 from the TEC, 12 from the UNA and 7 from the UNED. Another interesting aspect is that we have students from many locations, and for the first time, we will have people of all the provinces”, said Marianela Cortés, General Coordinator of the country’s competition.
In this edition there will be 6 sponsors who are strategic allies of the activity: the ICE, with their brand Kölbi, the National Bank of Costa Rica (Banco Nacional de Costa Rica), Nutrisnacks, Virtual Arena (augmented reality company); Wenox (audiovisual company) and Coope Tarrazú R.L.
Teams will discover their challenges on May 23th at 7:00 a.m. (CR hour). Since that moment, they will have 24 hours to present a solution in a 2 minutes video.
The local juries determine a national winner; then, the L ́École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS) organization in Montreal, Canadá, by an international jury, will determined the international winners, from the local winners of each headquarter.
In the competition, Kölbi will present 3 challenges, as the National Bank (Banco Nacional). Both will present 2 challenges on its internal themes and one on themes of projection and social interest and national. On the other hand, Nutrisnacks will present a challenge related to its internal themes.
Besides, there will be a special guest challenge by the Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL), which will present a challenge in the area of human rights. This as part of the designation 2018 that Conare made: the year of public universities for the respect of human rights, university autonomy and regionalization.
