CONGRESS WILL BE A SHOWCASE FOR INNOVATORS


The event will bring together Government, academia, companies, entrepreneurs and society participants.

The 3rd National Congress of Innovation has opened the application period for those who hace developed innovative projects of social, economic and environmental impact that like to expose their succesful experiences.

The registration period was opened on May 7th and will close on May 28th. Marianela Cortés, Director of Proinnova-UCR and General Coordinator of the Congress, explained that applicants must fill out an online form. To do so, they must go to the website of Innovation of Costa Rica (http://www.innovacion.cr), go to the “ecosystem” tab, and then to the “National Congress of Innovation 2018” tab.

The Congress will have 300 spaces and 12 succesful cases will be presented around the priority areas of the country.

Cortés also said that the decision of the candidates that will finally be presented at the Congress, on May 29th, will fall on an evaluating jury that will choose the most relevant success cases.

This event wii be held on August 28th and 29th in the Franking Chang Building Auditorium, in Rohrmoser.

The Congress organization is in charge of the “Subcomisión Conare NEXO Universidad-Sector Productivo”, entity led by the University of Costa Rica and represented by Proinnova.

The activity will be developed with the participation of five key actors, also called “five-helix”: Government, academia, companies, entrepreneurs and society.

Thematic areas

The Congress looks to have in its third edition, sucessful cases in the areas of: Well-Being and Health, Agri-food, Intelligent Society and Energy and Environment.

According to Cortés, these areas are considered a priority for the country, because is where have been identified great opportunities for the development research and undertaking of innovative projects, that address both the problems of the Costa Rican society and the global opportunities.

 

The Congress will have the possibility of networking with people from all over the country’s innovation ecosystem. Likewise, success stories can be known, from the hand of the innovators themselves, so that the learning in the process of developing their projects will be known.

Cortés highlight there will be panels around the five-helix concept, which address the relevant problems, challenges and opportunities in the country.
